National Office for the Information Economy (NOIE)

On 8 April 2004, the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) was established, replacing the National Office for the Information Economy (NOIE). Functions of the former NOIE relating to the promotion and coordination of the use of new information and communications technology to deliver Government policies, information, programs and services were placed with AGIMO which, at the time, was an Executive Agency within the Communications, Information Technology and the Arts portfolio.

AGIMO was subsequently incorporated in the then Department of Finance and Administration. Following the 2007 federal election, the name of the department was changed to the Department of Finance and Deregulation.

Functions of the former NOIE relating to broader information economy policy, research and programs were transferred to the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA). Following the 2007 federal election, the name of the department was changed to the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.

The AGIMO Archive contains information on some of the NOIE programs, seminars & events, speeches and publications.
